Constitution & Bylaws

Primary Goals:

#1 – To provide leadership in promoting and facilitating cultural change in our schools.

#2 – To advocate for student rights including equitable access to programs and activities as well as appropriate learning conditions.

Supporting Initiatives:

  1. VCPAC will continue to engage actively in the SD61 Culture and Community Committee and create forums for discussing school culture through our general meetings, PAC Congress and PAC Chair Summit.
  2. VCPAC will periodically provide information to parents regarding student and parent rights.  This will include existing policies and processes as well as initiatives on which VCPAC is working.
  3. VCPAC will seek opportunities to engage with its members through ongoing communication and visits to PAC meetings to encourage discussion and obtain feedback about cultural change, student rights, and any other issues that our members wish to discuss.
  4. VCPAC will continue to build strong relationships at the school, district and provincial levels to increase our ability to advocate for change.
Supporting Structures and Processes:
  1. General Meeting
    1. Panel discussions will continue and will focus on our two primary goals.
  2. Parent Engagement Events:
    1.  VCPAC will host a PAC Congress designed to provide training for new and aspiring PAC executives and well as provide networking opportunities for PACs to share what is working for them.
    2. VCPAC will host a PAC Chair Summit designed to connect our parent leaders across the district and have dialogue on how our PACs are functioning, what their challenges are and what issues they would like to see moved forward.
    3. VCPAC will continue to partner with SPEAC (the Sooke DPAC) in hosting the Vancouver Island Parents’ Conference
  3. Executive Structure:
    1. This year, the full Executive will address both of our primary goals.
    2. Each director will be the liaison for a number of school PACs (see attached list).  They will maintain periodic contact with the VCPAC rep and PAC chair to provide direct access between our members and our executive.
