PAC Congress – Thursday, October 3, 2013
6:00 p.m. at S.J. Willis School, 923 Topaz Ave.
This year’s PAC Congress will feature round table discussions designed to share expertise and network with other PACs. Parent leaders, PAC Executives and other parents wishing to be more actively involved in their PAC cannot afford to miss this exceptional opportunity. After some opening comments, the Congress will proceed with three rounds of table discussions featuring a number of different areas of interest. Some of the possible topics are shown below.
Networking with other PACs
This event is a tremendous opportunity to share ideas and practices with other parent leaders. The many tables will feature interactive discussions with both the opportunity to ask questions of the facilitator and share information with each other.
Tables may include: The role of the PAC Chair; Effective Meetings; Duties of the Treasurer and Gaming Funds; Duties of the Secretary and Keeping Effective Minutes.
Parents in the School System
Tables may include: The Role of the PAC; The Role of VCPAC; School Planning Councils, Promoting Parent Engagement, Advocacy, Being part of effective communities, and Parent/Staff Partnership.
School and District Issues
Parents will have an opportunity to dialogue with the District at our “Ask the Superintendent” table facilitated by our Superintendent, John Gaiptman. Other tables may include topics such as: School Culture; what VCPAC can help you do, using technology & the new websites .
